30 Day Photo Challenge - Day 13, Childhood Memory

So, since I'm already cheating by giving myself more time for this "challenge", I'm breaking even more rules and going out of order. You see, even though San Diego is known for its sunshine, it's been a little gloomy lately, which makes Days 11 and 12 (silhouette and sun flare) difficult when Mr. Sun does not come out!

This is a photo I took of some public art in La Jolla. Notice the grey sky? It's been like this. way. too. much.

[A trash can in La Jolla village--pretty, no?]

I'm jumping ahead to Day 13--childhood memory. For my childhood memory I chose my copy of The Phantom Tollbooth, which I got at my favorite used bookstore in my hometown sometime around age 10. It shared a shelf with some of my other favorites, Harriet the Spy, Matilda, and Charlotte's Web...and a whole gigantic mountain of Babysitter's Club books.

Did you have a favorite book when you were a kid? Do you still have your childhood copies?

I had The Phantom Tollbooth too! I still have a couple of my favorites ~ Matilda and The Secret Garden. :)

A cousin gave me The Phantom Tollbooth as a gift when I was young, but I never read it until much later because I thought the cover was boring. And when I did read it, I loved it. It definitely taught me never to judge a book by its cover.

Oh, I LOVE The Phantom Tollbooth! I remember I did my 4th grade book report on that book. I hadn't thought about it in years; thanks for jogging my memory! :)

I was more of a Ramona Quimby reader myself, but loved all the same books you did! I might have a few, but mine were mostly library copies. They have such fond memories for me.
