Do you cook your meals?

The boy and I made a pact to start cooking more at home. We're pretty terrible and eat out way too much.

Starting this week, we are taking turns cooking dinner and buying groceries. It's his week starting tonight--I have to wash the dishes so that he can be ready to cook tomorrow night.

I have no clue what to cook for us for five straight days next week.
What is your favorite home-cooked meal? Do you eat most meals at home or out?

We cook at home every night and go out one night a week usually. We also just got in the habit of making our lunches each night after dinner. In the summer I love good salads with mixed greens, toasted walnuts, goat cheese (or feta) and whatever fruit we have in the house like peaches, cherries or apricots. You can add grilled chicken too if you want!

Some of our favorite (and relatively simple) recipes are on our blog: http://theculinarycouple.com. Unfortunately we haven't had much time to cook lately what with the wedding planning and traveling every weekend. Good luck! Can't wait to see what you guys come up with!

we go through phases of eating out all the time or cooking at home maybe 4 or 5 days a week. but over the past few years those times are few and far between unfortunately. i'm usually far too tired or in the mood for something delish, aka bad for me, and those feelings almost always win.
when we do eat in some of our faves are chicken or shrimp creole. YUMMM! or grilled salmon & pesto and roasted tomatoes. also delish!

Several favorite sources come to mind:
1. Real Simple Magazine
2. This list of 101 summer recipes [loose term here] from Mark Bittman: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/18/dining/18mini.html
3. Bittman's full week of meals from 10 grocery items: http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/06/24/the-10-ingredient-shopping-trip/?scp=2&sq=shop%20once%20for%20full%20week%20of%20meals,%20bittman&st=cse

Happy cooking!

those photos look delicious.

I cook as much as I can--sometimes I like to cook things that will yeild enough to have left overs for the next day so I don't have to cook everyday.

This summer I am all about fish tacos, ground lamb, fresh fruits and veggies, and big salads with a various things in it.

Yup - we cook ALL the time. We get stuck on the same thing a lot. For a while there we were ODing on tuna casserole (we love it!). I make a kick ass marinara sauce and we use that for home made pizzas, pasta, lasagna. Yum!

Wow, thanks for all the great responses! =)
I think I'll try my luck at colorful salads next week with a lot of fruit and perhaps some salmon on the side. Wish me luck!

Yum! I don't cook as much as I should but still manage a few times a week. Stir fries and frozen vegetables are great friends of ours.
Prepping on Sundays (like the vegetables) is convenient because I'm pretty tired during the week and want something simple.

I cook all the time - I love it! Hubby acts as my sous chef and we have a great time in the kitchen. My advice would be to 1. hit farmer's markets for fresh produce (tastes better!), 2. learn how to use herbs, and 3. take a cooking class! One of my favourite summer recipes is the 'Coconut Crab and Shrimp Salad' from CookingLight.com - it's so fresh, it tastes like summer! Have fun!

We cook at home a lot because I love it. I usually make something really big on Sunday that I can get lots of leftovers from. Recently I made this and LOVED even the 5 day old leftovers. SO good:

I cook almost every meal. I would say we only go out to eat a few times a month. I just love to cook so much!

I only cook maybe every other weekend, and it has to be planned out. But sometimes I do whip up something trying to use the things in my cupboard. Allrecipes.com has great easy recipes!

I do the best I can..., but it isn't as pretty as the images here...

I wanted to comment on your movie choices, but didn't seem to be able to.

I need a sitter and a computer tech!

Love your blog!

We probably cook as much as we eat out. It depends how busy we are but we usually love spending some time on the weekend whipping up a really nice meal. We get most of our recipes from cook books, newspapers, the internet... I stalk a lot of food blogs... :)
